Building a nation - Purpose & Destiny of the Nation

Dr. Nilda Arduin, 1999

Through science men discovered many principles of God's creation; how to detect and explain the formation of a hurricane, an earthquake, volcanoes, and other natural disasters. However, after ages of human existence, man has not discovered how to produce these forces of nature, neither how to detour or stop anyone of them.

Einstein discovered light, while light existed free of charge from the beginning. History tells us that Columbus discovered the West Indies (The Caribbean), however Columbus could not discover the Caribbean if it was not already there. Ages and ages of human creation, billions and billions of human minds have diligently worked towards (re)discovering creation. Mankind through science, is playing catch up with the Creator's Design. It is prophecy that man will be making great progress and strides in discovering the Creator's Design.

As a scientist myself, I have discovered that in-depth study of the Bible gives wisdom and understanding, it reveals the mysteries of life. Ignoring the historical value, the principles, prophecies and wisdom revealed in this source, is in my opinion like trying to re-invent the wheel, while not even being familiar with the basic principles of nature. Insight of God's original plan and purpose with mankind, the nations, is vital in unfolding the nations' ultimate destiny.

Dr. Myles Munroe (Nassau, Bahamas) stated in his forward to the book "The Nations; God's strategic purpose for Establishing Your Nation", by C.B. Peter Morgan (historian and senior pastor of the Covenant Community Churches of Jamaica), that at the time when governments, politicians, civic agencies and all of our institutions seem to be without direction and a sense of purpose, the need to rediscover and redefine the purpose and function of the nation, a vital human corporate entity, is a must.

Looking around us at the global scene, it is obvious that man's attempt to build political systems independent of God have failed. Just look at the paradox of the United Nations keeping world's peace by means of military intervention. Building a nation with a vision of the Creator's plan and purpose for the nation will give us direction to safeguard our destiny.

The account of the heavens and the earth at time of creation tells us that the Lord God took the man that He created and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. Then the Lord said that it is not good for the man to be alone and made him a suitable companion, a woman, and brought her to the man, as He obviously had a bigger plan in mind for mankind than just cultivating and caring for the soil. The Lord blessed the man and the woman and said to them to be fruitful, to fill the earth and subdue it; to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every living creature that moves on the ground. This was God's basic plan and purpose for mankind on earth.

This may sound utterly simplistic to some, but consider that man's efforts today through science and the development of technology fall short of God's original command to man, namely of to subdue the earth and rule over it. The tools to fulfill this command were given to us from inception, for God made us in His own image. Our potentials go way beyond our imagination, however corruption of our mind have made us arrogant and full of pride, and in our ignorance we have started to idolize human achievements.

The well known Indian leader Sadhu Vaswani said: "To meet the secret God is to see the world of knowledge from a new height". Idolizing human achievements have caused man to go its own way, forsaking the Creator's original plan and purpose, for man's inability to govern the earth on its own is clear, and we are systematically misusing the principle of dominion over everything on earth, while the mandate from the Creator is still the same.

It is the Creator's plan that man should fill the earth, which He accomplishes by establishing nations to rule and manage a specific territory. History accounts of various instances of divine intervention where the course of nations has changed. Nations in biblical, post biblical and contemporary times have been practically wiped out completely, and people had to relocate by forces of nature and form new nations when according to biblical terms the nation had violated its purpose for existence; when the acts and attitudes of the people have strangled themselves and the community no longer served as a context within which its citizens could hear and respond to the gospel, and the community had reached to a point of no return.

The formation of nations is a means to inhabit the entire earth, and at the same time to provide a structure for man to organize for his survival, to till the earth and take care of it. God wants to preserve His creation and organized the world into nations so that the people would seek Him and find Him. Through governments the people within a given territory is controlled, hence it is important for the leadership of the nation bears knowledge of, and is in tune with God's plan and purpose for the nation.

While the Church has left the influencing of the nation -contrary to God's command- for the greater part up to the politicians, many governments proclaim separation of church and state, which resulted in side-stepping of God's plan and purpose for the nations, and establishing of man's own statutes and laws based on humanistic thoughts of man, resulting in ever increasing laws, regulations and measures without bearing tangible fruits.

I therefore call upon our leadership and the people of our nation to like the people of Nineveh (Jonah 3:5-10) diligently seek the face of the Lord, and see the world from a new height. Knowledge of God's plan and purpose for our nation will enable us to work together towards our destiny. Inhabiting the land is a responsibility entrusted to the nations, God expects good management of all the resources found in the land.
